Klassik Frescobar cruising with Benz Truck
United States-based emerging singjay Klassik Frescobar is cruising with satisfaction about his single Benz Truck and its associated competition, Benz Truck Challenge.
Benz Truck was released in June and is produced by Good Good Productions.
The Benz Truck challenge was started in July as a marketing and promotional tool for the single. It has taken social media by storm as dancers including Dancing Rebel, Danger, and Chinney Unique have already partaken in the challenge.
According to the singjay, dancers are not limited to just Jamaica. Viral routines have been posted on Instagram from Russia, Japan, England, and United States.
“I always dreamed of making music that would unify people of different cultures. I finally have a song that crosses not only countries, but also continents,” Klassik told Jamaica Observer.
Klassik Frescobar’s (given name Kamaal Burrowes) musical influence began in the early 1990s while living in Kingston.
“After getting a hold of my mother’s cassette player and hearing early tunes from Bounty Killer, Sean Paul, and Beenie Man, my mind was committed to music,” he said.
After migrating to the Bronx in New York, Klassik Frescobar said he spent most of his time creating rap music but stayed close to his roots by attending dancehall parties.
Throughout that time he built relationships with local DJs and producers including the Jamaican-born Ricky Blaze.
“In 2014 I relocated to Miami where I worked closely with Guyanese rapper Red Cafe who would introduce me to local DJs and party scenes,” he said.
Since releasing his debut track in 2009, he has gone on to record other songs like Back It Up, Middle, and Air I Breathe.
