KINGSTON, Jamaica — Head of the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM), Terrence Williams, has left the island on a working visit to Switzerland and Netherlands.

According to an INDECOM release, Williams will be a panelist in discussion on the Use of Force and Firearms in Law Enforcement at the 36th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland.

The purpose of the panel discussion will be to launch the Resource Book on the Use of Force and Firearms in Law Enforcement, which INEDCOM launched in Jamaica in partnership with the UN earlier this year.

It was also supported by the Department for International Development (DFID) and the United States of America Embassy.

Afterwards, Williams will participate in an expert meeting on developing an international Police Killings Database that will be hosted at the Dutch Police Academy in Netherlands.

This meeting, INDECOM said, will facilitate dialogue towards the database, which intends to bring together information concerning police killings in a systematic, consistent manner, combined with case-based analysis.

The possible implementation will allow for international comparisons, as well as develop and advocate for effective interventions.
