Appliance Traders Limited (ATL), winners of the 2017 Western Sports/KSAFA Business House Association Football Division Two title, ended their fairy-tale season with a 1-2 defeat to Division One champions Scotiabank in the Raymond Quallo Memorial Challenge Cup at Winchester Park on Saturday.

A successful penalty by Jermaine Gardener in minute 27 and an 85th-minute clincher from Kevin Lamey secured victory for Scotiabank.

Jamar Dewar responded for ATL who, as Division Two winners, will compete in Division One next season.

Despite the loss to Scotiabank, the ATL team can be justifiably pleased with its performances over the past three seasons under the watchful eye of Head Coach Jerome Waite, his able assistant Orlando Clarke, and Team Manager Tonya Russell.

On Saturday, ATL played well in patches, and with a little more concerted effort could have gone on to the ‘Champion of Champions’ final against the St Ann business house football champions.

They did, however, create more scoring opportunities than did their opponents Scotiabank, especially in the second half.

“It is good to have two in the bag. It is something we had planned for and it is going nicely up to this point,” said Gardener, the Scotiabank captain , in his post-match comments.

“Both teams played well, but our plan was to catch the fast-moving ATL team on the counter, especially with fresh legs coming off the bench. This worked for us nicely and we are now looking forward to the Champion of Champions clash,” he added.
