BROODMARE La Reina, who was bred and owned by Elias Haloute and trained by Anthony Nunes, had the rare distinction of producing two winners on the same race day – the 10-race programme at Caymanas Park last Saturday.

La Reina’s offspring – Siempre Bueno and Orpheus – won the fourth and eighth races, respectively.

Siempre Bueno, ridden by Dick Cardenas, led every inch of the way to win over five furlongs (1,000m) down the straight course by all of 13 lengths in a very fast 58.2 seconds.

Supertronics (Omar Walker) was second, with Smokey Topaz (Oneil Beckford) ending in third position.

Orpheus, ridden by Wesley Henry, came with a strong run in deep stretch to win by three parts of a length over six furlongs (1,200m) in a good 1:12.0.

Winner of last year’s Derby, Orpheus has only made it back to competitive racing in the last two months after battling a number of health issues.This was his third run for the season.

Second was the fast-finishing Traditional Prince (Aaron Chatrie), with Money Magnet (Anthony Thomas) third. Both Siempre Bueno and Orpheus were also bred and owned by Haloute and trained by Nunes.
