JUTC pulls buses from Rollington Town due to violence
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) has ceased its operation on the 81 route in Rollington Town, East Kingston due to roadblocks and alleged violence in the area yesterday.
“Breaking-Route 81 has ceased operations due to violence in the Rollington Town community. Roads are blocked making it difficult to drive. Be careful,” JUTC tweeted yesterday afternoon.
In recent times, the State-run bus company has been the target of stone throwing attacks.
According to JUTC’s communications manager, Cecil Thoms, 71 buses have been damaged in those incidents to date.
