Dear Editor,

As an outsider looking in on all this political drama as it unfolds, one would think that members of the Black Lives Matter Movement would’ve constructed a well-thought-out plan against the systemic oppression of their people. But who would’ve thought that taking a knee while the national anthem is being played, and destroying and looting of the businesses (owned by black people) and cities they call home, would be considered a solution.

The burning of a nation’s flag, especially by one of its own citizens, can be considered as a dishonourable act, and the action in itself is unpatriotic, just as the actions being carried out by the National Football League players.

Every year you have hundreds, if not thousands of black students graduating from law school, yet they have failed miserably to offer their services to the vulnerable that have fallen victim to the draconian laws in place. I say an alternative to all this madness is for them to actively seek to infiltrate the judiciary and political system, because that’s the only way they can affect real change.
