KINGSTON, Jamaica — Lorna Williamson, who snatched a day-old baby from the University Hospital of the West Indies in St Andrew last December, today took advantage of  ‘Sentence Reduction Day’.

The 47-year-old medical assistant, who a short while ago pleaded guilty when she appeared in the Home Circuit Court in Kingston, will be sentenced on December 15.

Her bail has also been extended.

Williamson was initially charged with child stealing after the day-old baby was found in her possession in Rollington Town on the same day the baby disappeared.

The charges were later changed to forcible abduction.

The Sentence Reduction Day initiative provides an opportunity for accused individuals to enter a guilty plea and benefit from a maximum of up to 50 per cent reduction in their sentence, according to the provisions of the Criminal Justice Administration Amendment Act, 2015.

The programme will also be available tomorrow at the St Catherine Circuit Court.
