Flash flood watch in place for all parishes
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Meteorological Service has issued a flash flood watch for low-lying and flood-prone areas of all parishes until 5:00pm this evening.
The Met Office said a stationary front across the western Caribbean continues to produce unstable weather conditions across Jamaica.
Satellite imagery and radar reports indicate that periods of light to moderate showers and thunderstorms have been affecting the island throughout last night into early this morning.
Projections are for these showers and thunderstorms to continue affecting sections of most parishes today. Flash flooding is therefore a possibility over some low-lying and flood-prone areas of all parishes.
A flash flood watch means that flash flooding is possible and residents are advised to take precautionary measures, keep informed by listening to further releases from the Meteorological Service and be ready for quick action if flooding is observed or if a warning is issued. The Meteorological Service said it will continue to monitor the situation.
