New training equipment for Capt Burrell centre
KINGSTON, Jamaica— The Jamaica Football Federation says national coaches of both senior and junior teams will today receive “long requested training equipment” to aid with enhancing the intensity, focus and effectiveness of national training sessions.
According to a release from the JFF, the following items, which were secured through funding under the FIFA Forward program, will be delivered to the UWI-JFF Captain Horace Burrell Centre of Excellence:
• Five portable goals on wheels that JFF said will enhance the effectiveness of training sessions especially by facilitating small-sided games.
• Blocking nets (soccer back stop system), which prevent undue interference between simultaneous games and practice sessions. It also helps with player safety, spectator protection and property damage protection, the federation added.
• Other goals, such as Academy and European Club soccer goals, allowing coaches to break down training sessions into small units.
• Football benches with backs
• A high number of training equipment including speed hurdles; coaching sticks; inflators; agility ladders etc.
The federation informed that this is the first of two shipments to enhance the quality of the infrastructure at the Centre of Excellence as, critical maintenance equipment including turf rollers; tractors; ride on mower; water pump; weed cutter and an aerator, are to be delivered in December.
JFF said the items are valued at US$115,000.
“The ultimate goal is for the establishment of a first class Center which includes classrooms for training; an artificial turf; one grass field; a dormitory which will house 48 players and four staff. The dormitory which was constructed at a cost of approximately US$1.1 million will be paid directly to contractors by FIFA will house elite players especially youth players over extended periods,” the federation said.
