Driver charged over crash that killed woman, injured 7 in Clarendon
CLARENDON, Jamaica — The 52-year-old driver of a car that collided with a bus on Bustamante Highway in Clarendon, killing a woman and injuring seven other people, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
He is Winston Thompson, who resides in May Pen, Clarendon.
The May Pen police said the incident happened about 10:30 am on Thursday in the vicinity of Foga Road.
The lawmen said Thompson’s vehicle crossed into the path of a Toyota Hiace bus, which was travelling in the opposite direction. The two vehicles crashed, resulting in the death of St Ann resident, 45-year-old Karen Sullior, who was among eight people taken to hospital for injuries after the incident.
The police said Thompson appeared before the Clarendon Parish Court on Wednesday and was granted bail. His next court appearance is set for Thursday, November 9.
