Herbert Morrison put unbeaten run on the line
WAKEFIELD, Trelawny — Double defending champions Herbert Morrison Technical will take their beaten records in both the Under-16 and Under-19 sections to face Muschett High in their first-round ISSA Western Conference boys basketball competition in Wakefield, Trelawny, today.
The Under-19 team will see two unbeaten teams facing off after Herbert Morrison won their first four games, and Muschett High won their first three.
Also today, Rhodes Hall High will meet Holland High in an Under-16 game at Green Pond, starting at 2:30 pm, followed by Green Pond against Holland in an Under-19 game.
Muschett High will be boosted in their Under-19 game as they are coming off a 55-41 win over York Castle at home on Wednesday, with Akile Guthrie leading all scorers with 18 points and 15 rebounds as they led from the start.
Muschett were ahead 19-9 after the first quarter and 28-21 at half-time, before increasing their lead to 13 points (44-31).
Michael Tomlinson also scored 13 points for Muschett High, while Jaden Bennett scored 15 points for York Castle and Evaughn Bennett got 10 points.
York Castle restricted Muschett to 19 points in the second half of the Under-16 game as they came from behind in the final quarter to win by three points (39-36).
York Caste led by one point (5-4) after the first quarter and they were tied at 17-17 at the half-time break, but Muschett had their best quarter in the third, outscoring the visitors 17-6 to take what seemed a big 11 points 34-23 lead.
Led by Alex Fang’s game-high 21 points, York Castle roared back in the final quarter to outscore the home team 16-2 as Khemar Channer also scored nine points.
Kamani Daley scored 17 points for Muschett High, while Nicardo Sunderland also scored 10 points.
