The Regional four-day day/night contest between hosts Jamaica Scorpions and Barbados Pride seems headed for a draw, as rain again forced an early end to proceedings here at Sabina Park yesterday.

Only an hour and 11 minutes of play were possible, and during that time the Scorpions, after winning the toss and resuming on their overnight score of 77-0, progressed to 111-2 from 32.3 overs.

They lost both overnight batsmen John Campbell (44) and Garth Garvey (39) in the first hour of play.

Guyanese Assad Fudadin on 15 and Brandon King on 5 are the batsmen set to resume batting today.

Medium-pacer Kevin Stoute has so far picked up both wickets for 39 runs.

Play is scheduled to begin at 1:30 pm to make up for lost time – for the rest of the match.

Graced with bright, sunny conditions, the Scorpions picked up where they left off, but failed to show the same level of positivity displayed on the opening day.

They only managed eight to the overnight score, as left-hander John Campbell added two to his overnight score of 42, before being trapped in front by Kevin Stoute.

His opening partner Garth Garvey, resuming on 35, was also slow out the blocks and should have joined Campbell back in the pavilion soon after when Stoute found his edge, but wicketkeeper Mario Rampersaud failed to hold on to an easy catch.

New batsman to the crease Assad Fudadin was also given a lifeline by the wicketkeeper as he was also put down when he clipped one from Stoute down the leg side.

However, the partnership failed to take off, as Garvey, slashing at one outside the off stump, offered another catching opportunity to Rampersaud, who comfortably accepted this time around.

King joined Fudadin with the score at 96 for two and the duo went about steadying the innings when the rains came.
