KINGSTON, Jamaica — Three shooting incidents that occurred between 4:00am and 1:00pm today are now the subjects of investigations by the Independent Commission of Investigation (INDECOM).

The incidents ended in the death of two men and the injury of another.

In the first incident, a motor cyclist was shot and injured by a member of the Constant Spring branch of the Jamaica Constabulary Force who was on patrol in the Manor Park area at approximately 4:16 am. The man was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) where he is currently receiving treatment.

In the second incident on East Street in downtown Kingston, a man identified as Donavon Campbell was reportedly shot after a team of police officers with a search warrant entered the premises where he was. According to the police a confrontation ensued and Campbell was shot. He was taken to the KPH where he was pronounced dead. The police reportedly recovered a firearm in that incident.

In the third incident, which occurred at the National Chest Hospital on Barbican Road, Kevin Fletcher, a prisoner at the Tower Street Adult Correctional Centre was shot dead by a member of the Department of Correctional Services. The prisoner was being treated at the hospital at approximately 12:30 pm. It is alleged that the inmate attempted to escape custody and in an effort to prevent this was fatally shot.
