Sandals Resorts International (SRI) founder and chairman, Gordon “Butch” Stewart (centre) was honoured by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation with the Global Legend of the Caribbean Award on Tuesday evening at the Montego Bay Convention Centre, St James. The award was for “long and outstanding contribution to sustainable global tourism growth and to job creation in the Caribbean”. Sharing the happy moment with Stewart are prime ministers Andrew Holness (second left) of Jamaica and Allen Chastanet (second right) of St Lucia, as well as Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett (right) and Adam Stewart, deputy chairman and CEO of SRI.
