Herbert Morrison remain perfect in ISSA basketball
BROWN’S TOWN, St Ann — A day after going over the 100-point mark against William Knibb Memorial, defending champions Herbert Morrison beat York Castle High 98-50 in their ISSA Western Conference Under-19 return-round game played in Brown’s Town on Thursday.
Brendan Dawkins scored a game-high 32 points to lead Herbert Morrison, who also won their Under-16 game 46-30 to stay perfect on the season in both sections.
Herbert Morrison won their 12th straight game in the Under-19 section, as David Gordon and Alek Gilchrist flirted with triple doubles in the 48-point win.
Gordon scored 30 points and had 14 rebounds and seven steals, while Gilchrist scored 12 points and had 10 rebounds along with nine assists and six steals.
Daniel Watkis scored 19 points and had 13 rebounds, seven blocks and seven steals for York Castle, and Ihajah Clarke scored 11 points.
In the junior game, Herbert Morrison came back from being a point down after the first quarter, but took over the game in the second quarter to lead 32-20 at half-time, and were up 41-23 after the third quarter.
Anthony Thorpe led the way with 23 points and 13 rebounds for Herbert Morrison while Nathan Bowen had nine points.
