STELLA Maris Preparatory School will be hosting its annual Christmas concert at Little Theatre in St Andrew, today and tomorrow.

Show times are today at 6:00 pm (grades 2 to six) and tomorrow at 4:00 pm (nursery to grade 1).

The occasion will see students performing songs, dance, speech and drama pieces.

Sister Mary Joseph, principal of Stella Maris Preparatory School, highlighted this year’s concert theme.

“The theme of the concert is ‘Emmanuel’, which means God is with us. This year we want the concert to be one with a difference, whereby we teach our children to be aware that the presence of God is with us at all times. We also want to teach our children that all adoration and praises are due to God, and God alone. Just as how the song entitled All Creation Worships You speaks about the sun, the moon and the stars worshipping God, we are letting our students be aware that human beings are not the only ones who worship God but plants, animals and trees worship the Almighty God — and so most of the items are based on praising God,” Sister Mary Joseph told the Jamaica Observer.

“This world is filled with hatred, anger, and a lot of violence, and we are hoping with this year’s theme our students will always remember, even upon adulthood, that in times of difficulty they can rely on God as He is Emmanuel… He is always with us, even unto the end of time. In addition, they will know that they can look to Him as the well renowned song says I Look To You,” she continued.

Founded in 1951, Stella Maris is a co-educational primary school with nursery, promoting holistic development through Christocentric Franciscan values and an integrated curriculum that prepares children for life’s opportunities and challenges.
