PASSAGE – TRU BLU
The Jamaica Observer continues its daily look back at people, events and works that made an impact during the year.
RECORD producer Ralston “Tru Blue” Wellington was shot and killed in the Maxfield Avenue community of Kingston on Friday, October 30. He was 44.
According to the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s information arm — Corporate Communications Unit — at about 6:15 pm, explosions were heard coming from the Swettenham Road in Kingston 13.
The police were summoned to the scene, where Wellington’s lifeless body was found in a yard in a pool of blood with what appeared to be gunshot wounds. The body was subsequently removed to the morgue.
No motive has yet been yet to be established for his killing.
Tru Blue, who was off the music radar for close to a decade, co-produced Whine Yuh Waist Suh by Vybz Kartel and Don Andre last year.
Wellington is one of three producers to have been murdered in the last three months.
