Despite being diagnosed with skin cancer two years ago, Stormin is ready to take on the dancehall scene. He is promoting his latest single Curse, which talks about his struggles with the illness.

“I just want people to know that life still goes on even if you are sick. I am still not giving up and I will always be doing music. We just have to be strong and continue to push on,” Stormin told Splash.

Stormin is a grime rapper with the UK-based duo called SAS. Grime is fast becoming a major musical genre in the UK since it emerged in London in the early 2000s.

Born Shaun Lewis, his family is originally from Clarendon. He is currently in the island doing the promotional rounds.

Asked whether the illness had impacted his career, he said: “It has a tiny bit because my energy levels are not as high as they used to be. But I still push it to the limit.”

Stormin has worked with several producers in the UK including Gurrillaz, Sir Spyro, Phantasty, Macky Gee, and Westy.

“My journey so far has been beautiful rocky at times but like dub poet Mutabaruka once said: ‘Sometimes you have to take the rough with the smooth to live the right road’,” he added.
