Thing’s Crysp with Masicka
Masicka is dominating the airwaves with his latest single They Don’t Know. The song is a clear departure from his gritty anthems and appears to have struck a chord with the listening public.
“Sometimes it’s great to have some amount of introspection. The song is about my journey but it also mirrors the experience of many others who come from challenging circumstances. That’s why it tek off,” said Masicka.
They Don’t Know, released on the Gennasyde/TMG label on January 15, has racked up nearly 1,000,000 views in two weeks on YouTube.
Masicka’s rise as a dancehall deejay has been steady and consistent so much so that promoters are now banking on him to fill venues and entertain the masses. He scored a huge number one last year with My Dog Dem Haffi Live featuring Vybz Kartel, and topped charts with Energy, the popular Ten Outta Ten, and Roll Clean.
He performed on several shows on the east coast of the United States, performing most recently in the Garage nightclub in Bronx, New York, and a club in Boston. He also journeyed across the Atlantic to perform at the O2 Forum in the United Kingdom.
“My favourite performance was in England because of the energy of the fans and the whole vibe, it was really great,” he said.
He is taking on a new business venture with his endorsement of a new vodka called Crysp.
“The liquor is doing well, it is being distributed by Betco and the demand is building. It is being sold at an affordable price. It is for the masses, so everyone will be able to buy a bottle. You done know is a Gennasyde move,” he said.
The liquor was launched at his birthday celebration at Taboo nightclub in December 2017.
“It’s a great business idea, and a major booster in my career and all of this is made possible through my manager, Corey Todd,” Masicka said.
In the meantime, Masicka will be releasing his debut album during the second quarter of this year.
“This album will feature all new tracks, I have written some songs already, but the fans can look out for it this year,” he said.
