MONTEGO BAY, St James — Faulkland FC could secure their first-ever mid-season final of the Jamaica Football Federation Western Confederation/Charley’s JB Rum Super League if they beat former champions Granville United in a second-round game to be played at Jarrett Park on Sunday.

Faulkland FC, who are in their second season in the Super League, lead Zone Two with 19 points, five more than second-placed Wadadah FC, and a second win over Granville

United would see them join fellow St James club Reggae Youths in the play-off set for Sunday, February 25 at Jarrett Park.

Reggae Youths secured back-to-back trips to the mid-season final after beating Montego Bay Boys Club 2-1 at the UDC field on Sunday to go eight points clear at the top of Zone One with 20 points and two games left to be played.

Faulkland FC had beaten Granville United 2-0 in the first round, and while the former champions benefitted from decisions made by the Competitions Committee awarding two unplayed games to them, they are still struggling in mid-table on eight points.

Granville United have only scored three goals in games played and have conceded 10, and will face the most prolific scoring team in the competition with 23 goals scored so far. Ronald McLeish, who is tied with Reggae Youths’Shanoy Anderson with six goals, is expected to lead the Faulkland FC attack, while Peter Campbell, who has three goals, and the pair of Neil Clarke and Radcliff Dawkins could make it a tough afternoon for the Granville United defence.

Grand Palladium FC, who had their four-game unbeaten run halted on Sunday when they were beaten 3-1 by Faulkland FC, will hope to bounce back when they host fellow promoted team Roaring River at the Colin Miller Sports Complex in Lucea.

Grand Palladium are on 13 points, five more than Roaring River, who have earned a mere two points from their last five games and were beaten 0-2 at home by Grand Palladium in their first meeting at Petersfield.

Struggling St James teams Montego Bay Boys Club, last season’s beaten finalists, and Catherine Hall will meet at the UDC field in what could be an early relegation battle.

Both teams have underperformed this season and are tied on six points at the foot of Zone One, separated by goal difference, and will have to fight to stay in the league.

Catherine Hall had won their first game 2-1.
