Eyesus is excited about his recent nomination in Canada’s upcoming Juno Awards. He got the nod for Neva Judge in the Best Reggae Recording Artiste of the Year category.

“I just want to thank everyone for the blessing and the good advice over the years that helped to push me to this point. Congratulations to the other nominees as well,” said Eyesus.

The deejay is one of five nominees. The others are Ammoye ( The Light); Blessed ( Hold Up, Slow Down); Kirk Diamond ( Greater); and Kreesha Turner ft K’Coneil ( Love How You Whine).

The nominations were announced last week, while the awards ceremony is scheduled for March 25 in Vancouver.

Eyesus (given name Ricardo Rhoden) said he is hoping to capitalise on his nomination buzz and introduce himself to a wider market.

He has been getting positive feedback for Neva Judge.

“The song is really doing well. It’s one of my best reggae songs and my dancehall fans are loving it. It is playing all over,” he said.

Born on D’Aguilar Road, off Waltham Park Road in St Andrew, the 25-year-old has been performing since age 10.

He migrated to Canada in 2002 and launched into the music scene a year later. Soon after he was opening for the likes of Ne-Yo, Destra, Mavado, Beenie Man, Jah Vinci, Elephant Man, Serani, Lady Saw, Sean Paul, Sanchez, and others.

He has performed to thousands at events, including the annual Jamaica Day Celebration and Champions In Action.

Eyesus is known for singles including Tdot A Mi Place, Social Media, Slow Wine, and We Hate You First featuring Jahvinci.
