MANDEVILLE, Manchester — Superintendent of the Manchester Police Division, Wayne Cameron, has confirmed that an investigation is now taking place into reports made by persons allegedly scammed by the operator of an “overseas employment agency” in the parish.

A 24-year-old man, who spoke to OBSERVER ONLINE via telephone, said that he was among “hundred and odd” persons who came out this morning to meet a bus in Christiana that would take them to Kingston, en route to their destination to Canada and the United States.

The man, who is from Lowe River in Trelawny, said that they were instructed to meet the bus at 3:00 am and waited until sunrise but the contact from the agency did not show.

He said they realised that they had invested their money in an overseas employment scam after calls to her phone went unanswered and they learnt that the office in Christiana that they conducted business is no longer in operation.

The matter was reported at the Christiana Police Station.
