Montego Bay hammer Muschett in basketball
MARTHA BRAE, Trelawny — Holland High School and Montego Bay High School continued their race for second place in the ISSA Western Conference Girls’ basketball after contrasting results in a double-header at William Knibb Memorial on Thursday.
Host team William Knibb Memorial failed to show up against Holland High, who improved to 10 points, two behind leaders and defending champions Mt Alvernia High, who are on 12 points, while Montego Bay High hammered Muschett High 50-11 and moved to nine points in third place.
It was the second time this season that Montego Bay High were scoring 50 points against Muschett High as Bryanna Coleman scored 28 points, while the defence restricted the Trelawny school to single digit scoring in all four quarters.
The St James-based school led 19-2 after the first quarter and were up 30-6 at half-time and despite scoring just four points in the third quarter, managed to extend their advantage to 26 points as they led 34-8 going into the final quarter.
Coleman also had nine rebounds, six steals and three blocked shots.
Shelly-Ann Gayle also had 17 points for Montego Bay High, while Keith-Ann Lawrence scored seven of Muschett’s 11 points.
