Ganja valued nearly $1m seized at Kingston Freeport Terminal
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Detectives from the Contraband Enforcement Team (CET) of the Narcotics Division are reporting the seizure of approximately 248 pounds of ganja at the Kingston Freeport Terminal at New Port West in Kingston last Friday.
Reports are that about 5:30 am, security personnel were conducting routine checks when they observed discrepancies with the seal on a container.
The CET was summoned and upon their arrival, the container was checked and two black travelling bags and another package wrapped in plastic were seen at the rear of the container.
Both packages were found to contain a total of 119 parcels of ganja, which is estimated to value J$993, 200 on the street.
Lawmen said no one was arrested in connection with the seizure.
