Three wanted men captured in Manchester
MANDEVILLE, Manchester — The Manchester police have been placed on high alert as criminals fleeing other parishes are seeking refuge in the parish, with three wanted men being captured in separate operations recently.
The men were wanted for serious crimes, including murders and shootings spanning three parishes.
In an interview last Thursday, head of the Manchester police Superintendent Wayne Cameron, revealed that the men were captured between April 4 and 6.
“We have been seeing an increase in criminal suspects from other parts of the country seeking a safe haven here. This is evident in some of the work that we have been doing throughout the parish,” Cameron said.
He added: “In the first instance we conducted a targeted operation on Wednesday, April 4 at premises on Manchester Road in Mandeville which resulted in the capture of Carey Jonas, who can assist the police with a double murder which occurred in Forrest Ridge, St Andrew.”
In that double murder, which occurred on January 2, 2018, Simone Campbell-Collymore and taxi operator Winston Walters were killed.
In the second instance, the police conducted a targeted operation on April 6 at a house in Pike district, Christiana, in search of wanted people and migrant criminals. This operation resulted in the arrest of three men, two of whom were wanted for crimes committed in St Ann and Trelawny.
They are Cheston Morrison, otherwise called Bryan Thompson, and Adrian McNeil. Morrison was wanted for the February 27 murder of a Chinese national in Brown’s Town, St Ann, while McNeil was wanted for shooting at the police in Trelawny.
Superintendent Cameron said the police are noticing a trend where criminals seek refuge in remote areas of the parish. He has since urged residents to be on the lookout for strange people in their communities.
