TWENTY-FOUR songs are included on veteran dancehall toaster Burro Banton’s Greatest Hits compilation, which was recently released by Massive B Records.

Among the songs are Badder Dan Dem, Boom Wah Dis, Westmoreland Sensi, Washington Session, Gangster Paradise, Gunman, Settle Yourself, and Phenomenon 1.

Produced by Bobby Konders, the Greatest Hits package also features the new track Chemist Inna Dis.

Konders explained the inclusion of a new track.

“Because we are promoting the new song with a video, we decided to include it. Burro has a global fan base that would be interested in his classics as well as a new release,” said Konders.

He also spoke about the timing of the release.

“There’s no better time than now. Burro also tours regularly and it’s good for his fans to get a package with his classic hits.”

Originally from the Grants Pen community of Kingston, Banton entered a talent competition held at Skateland in Half-Way-Tree in the mid-1970s. Although he didn’t win, it was encouraging enough for him to pursue a career in music.

He did stints with various sound systems including Black Hoover, Roots Unlimited, Gemini Sound, Volcano, Steromars and Kilamanjaro. In the early 1990s he formed a business relationship with the New York-based Massive B label.

Banton made his recording debut in the early 1980s when he worked with producer General Plough. However, his first hit Boom Wah Dis came via producer Henry “Junjo” Lawes’ Volcano label.

To date, Banton has released four studio albums and several compilations. Burro Banton’s Greatest Hits is now available on all digital platforms.
