THE National Works Agency (NWA) says the section of Constant Spring Road between Shortwood Road and Dunrobin Avenue will be closed to through traffic this Sunday.

The NWA said this is to facilitate the ongoing relocation of service poles by the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) in relation to the Constant Spring Road Improvement Project.

The closure, the agency said, will affect vehicular traffic travelling along both the southbound and northbound lanes.

The NWA’s acting manager for communication and customer services, Ramona Lawson, said that the activity will be carried out between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm, and will make the area unsafe.

“Motorists who do not need to use that section of the corridor should avoid doing so,” said Lawson. She said that people living along the affected section will be allowed access to their premises.

During the period of closure, traffic heading south towards Half-Way-Tree from Mannings Hill Road or Manor Park will be detoured around the area through West Avenue on to Dukharan Avenue, Lindsay Crescent, then left onto Dunrobin Avenue and back on to Constant Spring Road.

Motorists travelling from Shortwood Road can use Central Avenue to get onto West Avenue and subsequent roadways along the detour route. The reverse obtains for motorists travelling from Half-Way-Tree towards Shortwood Road, Mannings Hill Road, Manor Park or locations further north.

At the same time, the NWA advised that lane restrictions or closures are likely along roadways where major improvement works are currently being done, including Hagley Park Road, Constant Spring Road and the Mandela Highway.
