Holness summons boards under energy ministry
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Prime Minister Andrew Holness has summoned all boards associated with the energy portfolio to an important meeting at the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) next week.
OPM, in a release today, said the boards are being called in to be given direct policy instructions by the Holness, who is the minister currently in charge of the portfolio.
The boards expected to appear are: Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica; National Energy Solutions Limited; Wigton Wind Farm; Petrojam Ethanol Limited; Board of Examiners; Jamaica Aircraft Refueling Services Limited; and Government Electrical Regulator.
Over the past weeks, the Government has been haemorrhaging from revelations of misconduct at agencies in the energy ministry, resulting in the resignation of several key personnel including former portfolio minister Dr Andrew Wheatley.
The latest development is the resignation of Trevor Forrest as chairman of the Spectrum Management Authority amid pressure over his attempt to improperly insert Carolyn Warren into a recruitment process at the agency two years ago.
