Will the ‘Belle’ sound?
EVEN with the Front Runner Dash for native-bred two-year-olds taking the spotlight, the seventh race among Restricted Stakes company is sure to bring some excitement at Caymanas Park tomorrow.
A field of eight, including three Americans, four locals and one Irish-bred runner, is down to compete in this eight-and-a-half furlong (1,700m) event for a purse of $930,000.
The Supreme Racing Guide assesses the eight declared in post-position order.
SUPER SPARKLE: (USA): — (3,b,f. – Bluegrass – Karakorum) — After five runs, Super Sparkle finally found the winning post in front when he beat Dee Danger by a length and a half going five furlongs (1,000m) round in a time of 1:01.3. Still effective going this long and with improvement shown in her victory, Super Sparkle can win again with the proviso that she can get the trip. Note Super Sparkle races without the blinkers.
HARRY’S TRAIN: (USA): — (3, ch.f. – Discreetly Mine – Sweet Dixie Gal) — Still a maiden after eight starts but looks quite useful Harry’s Train is probably going to find the task of winning burdensome.
AZARIA: — (3,b.f – Performing Magic – Milestone) — Did quite well in the last two Classic races in which she came fifth in the Jamaica Derby and fourth in the Jamaica St Leger. Azaria stays well and should earn a place here, and that place might well be the winning one.
ANNA LISA: — (3,b,f – Adore The Gold – Anna) — An upset winning on last when going six-and-a-half furlongs (1,300m) and, although having the capabilities, Anna Lisa will find it very difficult repeating first time of asking at this new level.
SUNSCAPE (IRE): — (5,ch,m – Roderic O’Connor – Opatja) — Has had three runs on local soil without showing any real signs of ability and the same should continue here.
TREASURE TRAIN: — (3,b,f – Blue Pepsi Lodge – Silver Shadow) — Was able to release the maiden tag on last when beating Daddy’s Dilemma by a short head over seven furlongs (1,400m). Treasure Train, against these, will have to do more if she is to have an impact on the outcome.
MY ELLE BELLE (USA): — (3,ch,f – Horse Greeley – Fast Actress) — Two wins from nine career starts on local soil for this improving filly. My Elle Belle has beaten Super Sparkle before and with the leading rider Anthony Thomas aboard, another win is on the table for the American.
SIR PUDDINGTON: — (3,b,c – Western Classic – Shahar) — Coming off two good wins, Sir Puddington failed to ignite in the Jamaica Derby, finishing in eighth position by 42 lengths. An improved run is likely here.
