TEN HORSES CLAIMED ON SATURDAY

The claiming box drew a lot of attention on Saturday as 10 horses were claimed on the 10-race programme at Caymanas Park

Prince McDonald claimed Hologram Shadow for owner Pink Alaina from Steven Todd; Donovan Plummer claimed Big Black Nation for owner Lloyd Dawes from Henry Harrison Jr and Ryan Darby claimed Mr Lyndhurst for owner Raphael Gordon from Howard Jaghai from the first race. All claims from the first race were made for $350,000 each.

In the second race on a $180,000 claiming tag, Tyrone Prince claimed King Nebarue for owner The Baller from Steven Todd; Patrick Chang claimed Luana for owner The Hustler from Wayne DaCosta; Ian Alexander claimed Bigbrowngreyhope for himself from Gregory Forsyth; Fernando Geddes claimed Sonador Express for owner Master Gate Connection from Steven Todd and Wilfred Chin claimed Princess Statistic for owner Huntley Beckford from Dalton Sirjue.

The from the ninth race O’Neil Markland claimed Zackontheattack from Welsh Soutar for himself and Michael Francis claimed Little Big Horn for owner Derrick Chambers from Leroy Tomlinson. Both horses from the ninth went for $550,000 each.

SMARTY TRADITION , BULA GET THE JOB DONE

Smarty Tradition and Bula were both able to release their maiden tags on the 10-race programme at Caymanas Park on Saturday.

Smarty Tradition, trained by Patrick Lynch and ridden by Dick Cardenas, got home in the sixth race by via the steward’s room, while Bula, trained by Dennis Lee and ridden by Oneil Scott, romped home easily in the 10th and final event.

Smarty Tradition finished second behind winner Mrs Kim going five furlongs (1,000m) down the straight course. After an objection and steward’s inquiry, Mrs Kim was disqualified and placed third for causing interference to newcomer Young Boy Eddy inside the final furlong of the race. The placings were then reversed was first position awarded to Smarty Tradition.

After suffering traffic problems approaching the final bend, Bula produced a noticeable turn of foot in deep stretch to beat Dare To Speak and Sly Stalloon by over two lengths going seven furlongs (1,400m).

ALFORD BROWN NOTCHES SECOND CAREER WIN

Zi Beast romped home by four-and-a-half lengths in a Restricted Allowance event over five furlongs (1000m) round, giving trainer Alford Brown his second career win since graduating as a conditioner in December of last year.

Ridden by Oneil Mullings, Zi Beast ( Adore The Gold – Limbo Dancer) shot to the front and made every post a winning one in a dominating run.

Zi Beast opened up with every stride in deep stretch to win ahead of Silence (Gary Richards) and Amar (Robert Halledeen) in a time of 1:00.2.

STEVEN TODD’S FORM CONTINUES

Trainer Steven Todd has been enjoying great form over the past three years and this season has been no different for the young conditioner. On Saturday, the second generation notched his 20th winner for the year when Hologram Shadow won the first race.

Dropping down from a $450,000-$400,000 claiming tag to $350,000-$300,000, it was always going to be hard to deny the nine-year-old Hologram Shadow.

Ridden by Anthony Thomas, Hologram Shadow won by two-and-three quarters lengths ahead of Prince Sammo and Big Black Nation going six furlongs (1,200m). The time done by Hologram Shadow was 1:15.1.
