21-y-o victim was not shot from behind, court hears in trial of Clarendon cop
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The medical doctor who had performed the post mortem on the body of Robert Dawkins in January 2009, after he was allegedly shot dead by Constable Collis ‘Chucky’ Brown, this morning testified that the victim was shot three times.
The doctor, during his testimony, told jurors that 21-year-old Dawkins was shot in his right thigh, lower rib and wrist.
The doctor further testified that the bullet that entered his lower rib exited through his neck while the bullet that entered his wrist was retrieved and sent to the laboratory.
However, during cross-examination from Brown’s attorney Norman Godfrey, he insisted that it would have been almost impossible for the wounds received by the now deceased to have been inflicted from the back, because there were no entry wound to Dawkins’ back.
Constable Brown, who has been in custody since 2014, is being tried for the deaths of Dawkins on January 10, 2009 and Andrew Fearon and Dwayne Douglas both on December 13, 2012.
Brown is also to be tried on a charge of conspiracy and wounding with intent.
