Celebrating Ruth Hussey’s Order of Distinction

Wednesday Social

The best of the Terra Nova All-Suite Hotel was on display on National Heroes’ Day, October 15, at a celebratory luncheon for the hotel’s founder Ruth Hussey. Hussey was conferred with the Order of Distinction in the rank of officer for her immeasurable contribution to the hotel industry and tourism. The top-class luncheon was held in the hotel’s Venetian suite and attended by a veritable who’s-who in Jamaican politics and business. Guests also jetted in from the United States and travelled across the island to celebrate with Hussey and her family. Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett actually left his own reception at the Jamaica Pegasus to salute Hussey and present her with a special gift — an Antillean Charm by local ceramic artist Symerna Black. Despite being a day of numerous events, many came to honour Ruth Hussey and celebrate this well-deserved achievement.

Wednesday Social brings you snapshots of the event.

Rabbi Yaakov Raskin said a special blessing for Hussey during thecelebratory event.
