New Falmouth Tax Office opened today
TRELAWNY, Jamaica — Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) this morning opened the doors to the new Falmouth Tax Office located at Lot 5 Cornwall Street.
The $157-million project started in January 2017 and the new building features several amenities designed for greater comfort and efficiency.
The tax authority said the 4,000 square foot property has been designed to preserve the Georgian architecture in keeping with Falmouth’s designation as a heritage town.
“The two storey facility will accommodate 30 staff members, including four staffers from the municipal corporation, wheelchair access and parking for the physically disabled persons as well as regular parking,” TAJ saidd.
TAJ added that it will also be piloting its new automated Queue Management System at this facility, which is designed to significantly improve customer traffic management, and is expected to become a recurrent feature of Tax Offices across the island in the long term.
All services previously offered at the old location will continue to be available at the new location.
The move forms part of the TAJ’s thrust to improve service and increase efficiency.
