Perfect Glam

The Perfect Glam Experience

Nicole Blake, founder of BrushedByNicole, spun her brushes to create the full glam experience. Attorney-at-law and TV presenter Ashley-Ann Foster was the client, and Blake definitely impressed. See for yourself…

Go For Full Glam

At the Petals And Promises showroom in Kingston recently, brides-to-be enjoyed Moët & Chandon Impérial Brut, Impérial Rosé, Apothic Red and Apothic White courtesy of J Wray & Nephew; and nibbled on hors d’oeuvres catered by Ashebre The Virtual Restaurant. But, in-between sips, the hair and make-up convo continues where we left off last week with make-up artist Nicole Blake, and hairstylist Rose Thomas from The Perfect Touch Salon. Under the Dryer gives you one last look before pulling down the veil.

But first… Wedding Survival Kit!These are her wedding day must-haves…

Petals And Promises Creative Director Kara-Ann Anderson has shortlisted 27 items to prepare you for a number of mishaps on the big day! They may seem insignificant now, but will definitely save you headache later on. The items should be packed in advance and toted around by your maid of honour. “From one bride to another, close your eyes and take a moment to soak it all in, you won’t get it twice” was Anderson’s best tip.

1. Band-aid: you don’t want blood on your wedding dress, rental or not.

2. Deodorant: for last-minute refreshing

3. Visine eye drops: to reduce redness caused by unexpected eye injuries or tear-jerking moments

4. Water to rehydrate, and straws so you don’t ruin the make-up

5. Granola bar/snacks: in case you have low-blood sugar moments

6. Krazy Glue for quick and seamless mends

7. Kleenex tissues: a no-brainer

8. Tums: for upset stomach. Unfortunately, Tums will not keep wedding jitters at bay.

9. Advil or pain-killers

10. Compact mirror for last-minute checks

11. Hairspray for extra sheen

12. Tic Tac…just because!

13. A stick of chalk to “erase” stains temporarily and Tide To-Go stain remover

14. Tampons and sanitary napkins

15. Oil-absorbing sheets for oily skin

16. Lip gloss, of course

17. Clear nail polish to mend small runs or tears

18. Lotion #saynotoashyankles

19. Safety pins, boutonnière, and/or corsage pins

20. Static Guard: anti-static spray to keep dresses off the body.

21. Hairpins

22. Dental floss picks

23. Nail buffer

24. Hand sanitiser

25. Sewing kit

26. Lint roller

The Perfect Bridal Hair

Glam hair goes well with glam make-up, no doubt! So, renowned hairstylist Rose Thomas, who operates at The Perfect Touch Salon in Kingston, was on-hand to whip up another chic ‘do for attorney-at-law and TV presenter Ashley-Ann Foster.
