TAJ changes drivers’ licence processing at Constant Spring Tax Office
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) is advising the public that processing of drivers’ licences at its Constant Spring Revenue Service Centre will be closed at noon each day until further notice.
The TAJ, in a statement today, said that the change has become necessary as the continued road works in the area is impacting the speed at which drivers’ licence applications are processed during business hours.
TAJ explained that due to the Constant Spring road works a high speed fibre-optic cable has been damaged.
As a result, TAJ said, it has resorted to using a backup communication channel, leaving drivers’ licence processing taking in excess of 45 minutes and a significant backlog of customers waiting to be attended to.
TAJ said In light of this unavoidable issue it has taken the decision to close it drivers’ licence processing at the Constant Spring location at 12:00 midday each day to address the backlog of clients, as well as the printing of licences from the related medium and small tax offices.
Taxpayers are also being reminded that they have the option of visiting either the downtown Kingston Revenue Service Centre or Spanish Town Tax Office for the same-day processing of their drivers’ licences.
Individuals may also contact the TAJ Customer Care Centre at 1-888-Tax-Help (1-888-829-4357) toll-free for further information or assistance.
