KINGSTON, Jamaica — Prime Minister Andrew Holness departed the island this afternoon (Sunday, November 25) for official working visits to three major international summits where he will deliver key presentations, the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) has reported.

The prime minister will travel to Washington DC, then to Buenos Aires, Argentina and finally wrap up his official working trip in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, the OPM said in a statement Sunday.

 Holness will travel to Washington DC where he will participate in the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) Conference on Building Resilience to Natural Disasters from November 26 to 28. Specifically, the prime minister will give a keynote address tomorrow (Monday, November 26) on the topic, Building Resilience to Disasters and Climate Change in the Caribbean.

Additionally, while in Washington DC Holness will engage in a series of bi-lateral discussions, including meeting with Managing Director of the IMF, Christine Lagarde; as well as other international multi-lateral agencies, and key officials. Prime Minister Holness will also host a town hall meeting with the Jamaican Diaspora in the DC area, the OPM said.

On the second leg of his working visit Holness will travel to Buenos Aires, Argentina for the G20 Leaders’ Summit. Earlier this year, Prime Minister Holness was specially invited to present at the summit. Holness will make an intervention on Climate Change and Energy Transition. He will also hold a series of bilateral meetings with other global leaders in attendance.

On Sunday, December 2, The Prime Minister will arrive in Trinidad and Tobago for the third leg of his working visit, for the 18

 Special Meeting of the Caribbean Community on the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME). Holness will preside over the meetings in his role as Chairman of CARICOM. He will also hold a special meeting with Dr Keith Rowley, Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago.

Holness is supported by, Minister of Finance and the Public Service, Dr Nigel Clarke, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Kamina Johnson Smith, as well as Robert Morgan, Director of Communications and Public Affairs, in the OPM.

During his absence, Dr Horace Chang, Minister of National Security will oversee the Government.

Prime Minister Holness will return to the island on December 5.
