UPDATE: INDECOM probing stabbing at Fort Augusta prison
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) says it has launched an enquiry into yesterday’s stabbing of an inmate at the Fort Augusta Adult Correctional Centre on South Camp Road in Kingston.
The enquiry follows a disclosure this morning by an official at the Department of Correctional Services (DCS) that an inmate was stabbed several times during a brawl with another inmate at the women’s facility.

INDECOM said it will be seeking to assess if there was any apparent lapse in the duty of care that should be afforded to all persons in custody.
It also noted that the injuries sustained by the person in custody will be investigated by the police.
The injured woman is being treated at hospital.
