Jaz Elise gets patriotic with For You

On For You, her new song, singer Jaz Elise expresses her patriotism, while giving thanks to persons who played an integral part in her career.

“ For You was released about three months ago and it was actually from a personal place. It is about my love for Jamaica, the pride from where I live and the love for my country. It is also for everyone, family and close friends, who have influenced and inspired me,” she explained.

The song is produced by Jean-Andre Lowell Lawrence.

“Me and JLL, we bring different ideas to the table. He also produced some other tracks that are to be released, and we also like to experiment,” said Jaz Elise.

Growing up in Harbour View, St Andrew, she sang on the church and Ardenne High School choirs. That experience helped shape her sound.

“Church was always that place where you express from the soul and the heart, and it evoked emotions,” she shared.

Jaz Elise, whose given name Jasmine Taylor, studied psychology at The University of the West Indies (Mona), but said singing gave her an avenue to express herself.

“I’m a girl who loves music and I love expressing myself through art. As a recording artiste, I have learnt a lot during the process. I am also learning to be a better recording artiste.”
