JLP needs a Senate Rottweiler
Dear Editor,
The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) did a great job in Portland Eastern by beating the People’s National Party’s Damion Crawford.
One place the Government is not doing as well in is in the Senate. They are constantly being ‘beaten up’ by the likes of Lambert Brown and K D Knight, who tag team the rest every week and bully them with loud talk and constant interruptions. How can 13 allow two to beat them up so repeatedly?
The JLP senators, except for Matthew Samuda, Kamina Johnson Smith, and the president, come off as unprepared and ‘soft’.
I am calling on the prime minister, Andrew Holness, to take the opportunity to appoint a senator to balance things in the Senate by selecting someone who can deal with the bullying. The two best candidates are Robert Morgan or Garfield Higgins. They are highly competent in political strategy and understand how to shut down loudmouths. Either of the two could also make a great contribution to Jamaica as junior ministers in almost any ministry.
The JLP side in the Senate needs a young, powerful Rottweiler or Doberman Pinscher.
Please, Prime Minister, bring back some balance of power in the Senate, because the JLP is getting mauled right now.
