Normal Day
Coming off an encouraging 2018 with songs like Miss Rich, singjay Kahsion continues his hunt for the breakthrough song with Normal Day , which celebrates the dancehall lifestyle.
The single is produced by Flydie Wise Productions, a St Thomas label that Kahsion signed to last year.
“It ( Normal Day) can be my breakthrough song because of the style and topic and a difference in sound,” he said.
Normal Day maintains Kahsion’s steady run of releases which includes Grim Grim, Hot Hot and Miss Rich. Keeping songs in rotation, he noted, is critical to success in the dancehall.
“The most important things about dancehall music is to stay current, work hard and try to let the people accept you for you. You have to stay active at all times,” Kahsion stressed.
Born Kemarly Thomas, Kahsion grew up in areas (Maxfield Avenue in Kingston, Spanish Town and Manchester) that have strong roots reggae and dancehall credentials. Being around his uncle’s Solid Stone sound system also helped whet his appetite for a career in music.
He is among the first batch of acts Flydie Wise Productions signed when the London-based independent company established a Jamaican outlet three years ago.
According to Kahsion, the label has put its weight behind Normal Day which is an encouraging sign of things to come.
“It is on the right move on every promotion so it can reach a lot of places pon a normal day,” he said.
