Xavier Nairne stole the show on day three of the 48as the Jamaican team continued to display its impressive form.

Nairne, who is in his final year at Wolmer’s Boys’ School, ran a personal best of 20.65 seconds to cop gold in the boys’ under-20 200m final. The 19-year-old finished ahead of his teammate and Petersfield High prodigy Antonio Watson, who ran an equally impressive time of 20.98 seconds.

It was another remarkable feat for Nairne, who also claimed this year’s boys’ 200m Champs title in a time of 20.91 seconds.

Elsewhere, young Jamaican sprint phenom Briana Williams continued on her impressive journey to becoming a world-renowned superstar, after clinching yet another gold medal on Sunday evening.

The 17-year-old secured gold in the under-20 girls’ 200m final after finishing ahead of teammate Joanna Reid with a time of 22.89 seconds. The Florida-based athlete added this gold medal to the one she received on day one in the 100m under-20 girls’ final, running an impressive 11.25 seconds. It is her first year competing at the under-20 level, having copped three gold medals at last year’s event as an under-17 participant.

Other notable victories for Jamaica on Sunday included Kingston College star Wayne Pinnock, who continued his impressive season by clinching the under-20 boys’ long jump with 7.84 metres. It was another gold-silver medal finish in this event as fellow teammate Jordan Turner secured a silver medal after jumping 7.33 metres.
