Jamaica won 12 medals on the third day at the Carifta Swimming Championships — four gold, four silver and four bronze — to bring to 46 the number of medals earned so far in Barbados.

The four gold medals were won by the girls.

Sabrina Lyn was the outstanding performer for Jamaica on the night accounting for two of the gold medals. Lyn took gold in 100m freestyle 13-14 girls in a record time time of 57.89 secs, before returning to land a second gold in the 13-14 Individual Medley (IM) in a time of 34.41 secs.

Kokolo Foster was also in sparkling form as she won the 11-12 girls’ 50m breaststroke in a record 34.86 secs.

The fourth gold medal came in the 15-17 girls’ 4x200m freestyle relay as Britney Williams, Simone Vale, Karci Gibson and Emily MacDonald combined to take first place in 8:59.60 minutes.

MacDonald also claimed individual honours when she landed silver in the 100m freestyle in 58.86 secs.

Zaneta Alvaranga won a silver medal when she finished behind Lyn in the IM in 34.47 secs and a bronze in the 100m freestyle in 59.71 secs.

Cameron Brown won silver in 30.19 in the 15-17 boys’ 200m IM while Nathaniel Thomas won silver in the 13-14 boys’ 100m freestyle in 54.80 secs. Nicholas Vale was also a bronze medallist in the 200m IM boys’ 15-17 in a time of 2:13.46 minutes to account for the individual medals won by the boys.

The other two bronze medals came in the relays. In the mixed 4x100m freestyle relay 11-12, Brady MacPherson Lewison, Christanya Shirley, Saidah Brown and Nelson Denny finished third in 4:15.41 minutes.

The 4x200m freestyle relay for 15-17 boys provided the last bronze medal of the night through the efforts of Kyle Sinclair, Chester Adams, Jordane Payne and Nicholas Vale (bronze as they finished in 8:17.33 minutes).

The Jamaicans have so far won 15 gold, 20 silver and 11 bronze medals with one day of competition to go.
