ST ANDREW, Jamaica — Residents; Member of Parliament, Juliet Cuthbert; Child Protection and Family Service Agency representatives; and members of the clergy are gathered at the Sterling Castle New Testament Church in St Andrew awaiting the start of a community meeting.

The meeting was called in relation to the brutal killing of eight-year-old Shantae Skyers.

Skyers’ body was found in the community last Tuesday after she had gone missing on Thursday April 11.

She was a student of Red Hills Primary.

The constabulary’s Corporate Communications Unit, in a release, said Shantae’s body was found amongst rubble in an area known as Blue Hole by a search party led by the St Andrew North police.

The CCU said that after Shantae disappeared, the police, relatives, and community members searched several sites in the community without success. However, efforts to find her intensified when the Caribbean Search Centre, the police’s Canine Division and the Jamaica Defence Force joined the search.

In the meantime, three people have so far been taken in for questioning in connection with her death.
