A Neon Paint Affair
Copious amounts of alcohol, the spirit of Bacchanal, and the two Trinbagonian artistes Machel Montano and Nailah Blackman were the pulls for the dusk-to-dawn fête Bacchanal J’Ouvert, an “In Di Glo”-dubbed neon paint affair.
Relatively new soca artiste Nailah Blackman proved her chops with her arsenal of chart-topping hits. She was backed by international female deejay Reecie Tee.
Following Montana’s initial performance, the revellers demanded more, and more they received, as minutes later the soca king was back on-stage for an encore. With his four dancers and Trini deejay Justin Singh aka Assassin Singh, the artiste trampled the stage in true soca “revellion”.
Later, the gates opened and the Bacchanal Jamaica revellers made their way along Mountain View Avenue and along Old Hope Road (via Munroe Road). The parade continued down Old Hope Road and then back to Mas Camp at daybreak.
