KINGSTON, Jamaica — An employee of a car rental company in Kingston yesterday disclosed that Fitzroy Scott, the alleged deputy leader of the Uchence Wilson Gang, paid the company a total of $2.3 million for two cars that he had rented between December 2015 and May 2017.

The witness during her evidence- in-chief yesterday in the Home Circuit Court also testified that Scott who had been granted several extensions throughout the almost two-year long period at all-times paid cash including, over $800,000 for 138 days and $132, 000 for 22 days.

Scott, along with the 28-year-old reputed leader gang leader, Uchence Wilson, two ex-employees from a pawn shop in Kingston, a police corporal and 19 alleged gangsters, including four women, are all being tried on various breaches under the Criminal Justice Suppression of Criminal Organisations Act (anti-gang legislation), and the Firearms Act in the Home Circuit Court.

According to the witness, Scott first went to the company in November 2015 where he signed a rental agreement for one of two Toyota Yaris motor cars that he had rented using two identification cards.

The two main witnesses in the trial, who are ex-members of the gang, previously testified that the gang had carried out a series of robberies in St Catherine, Clarendon, St Andrew, St Mary, and St Ann, in which items such as motor vehicles, firearms, appliances, cellular phones, and other valuables were stolen.

Witness one had also pointed out that it was Scott who had rented the vehicles and that some of the money that they had made from the robberies was used to pay for the car rentals.

The witness during further testimony, said on the rental agreement Derron Taylor’s name was written as an additional driver and that a copy of his driver’s license had been provided. Taylor’s main role in the gang was driving, the court previously heard.

The court also heard that the witness had dealt with Scott about ten times but that she could not recall if Scott was ever accompanied by Taylor.

The trial will continue today before Chief Justice Bryan Sykes.
