More than 1,800 rounds of ammo seized in St James
ST JAMES, Jamaica— Security forces in St James, where a state of emergency was imposed on Tuesday, are reporting that a cache of more than 1,800 rounds of ammunition was seized about midday yesterday.
Reports are that personnel from the Contraband Enforcement Team of Jamaica Customs discovered irregularities during their checks of a shipment at a warehouse in the parish and summoned the police who responded and conducted a search.
The search reportedly yielded 1,859 assorted rounds and two 50-capacity Glock magazines.
The police are now reminding members of the public that under the Get the Guns campaign, they can receive rewards of up to JMD $100, 000 for information that leads to the seizure of firearms and ammunition. Citizens are urged to call 311 to give information.
