The press launch for the Adidas Racers Grand Prix is set for today at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel where “the galaxy of stars” is expected to be revealed for the June 8 meet inside the National Stadium.

The fourth staging of the meet will see a new title sponsor, as Adidas has taken over from the Jamaica National Group and is dubbed “Where The Stars Compete”.

This will be the second year the Racers Grand Prix will be without retired great Usain Bolt on the track, after he called time on his illustrious career after the 2017 World Championship in London. But that will not stop a consternation of stars converging in Jamaica.

These eagerly-anticipated names will be announced by Glen Mills, chairman of the organising committee at the media briefing inside the Pegasus’ Negril Suite, starting at 10:00 am.

In 2017, which was Bolt’s farewell local meet, the Racers Grand Prix had three world record holders in Bolt, South Africa’s Wayde Van Niekerk (400m) and David Rudisha of Kenya (800 metres). That list was complemented by the incomparable long-distance king Mo Farah.

Over the years, a number of Olympic and world champions have attended, including Jamaica’s Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Shaunae Miller-Uibo, Allyson Felix, Aries Merritt, Tori Bowie, Michelle Carter, Francena McCorory, Natasha Hastings, Ajee Wilson and Charlene Lipsey, Englishmen Zharnel Hughes and Miguel Francis, who both trained with Racers.
