L EGALITY , the American bred three-year-old dark bay colt, extended his racing record to three wins and two second place finishes from five starts when he made light work of his nine rivals in a three-year-old and upwards event for optional claimers ($1,000,000 – $850,000) and native-bred three-year-olds (NW4) and imported three-year-old and upwards – non-winners of three (NW3) going seven furlongs (1,400 metres) on Saturday last at Caymanas Park.

Legality, ridden by now regular rider Omar Walker and trained by Philip Feanny with the visor off for this engagement, beat his local bred stable companion God of Love by 4 ½ lengths after prompting fractions of 23.4, 46.2, 1:11.3 to complete seven furlongs (1,400m) in an unfussed time of 1:26.3. Winter Is Coming occupied the third spot. This was the second time Legality was getting the better of God of Love.

“ Legality continues to improve as he progresses through the classes. A nice colt with more races to win,” trainer Feanny offered while adding: “I was also pleased with the run by God of Love as slowly but surely, he is finding his way. Developing nicely but I am not willing to speculate on God of Love at this time as there is still a long way to go before considered predictions can be made. So, I am hoping for the best.”

The underperformance in the race came from Toona Ciliata, who finished sixth after being promient during the race before backing out after leaving the three-furlong pole.

In what must have been his prep run for the Governor’s Cup (10-furlongs) later this month, Toona Ciliata after finishing second behind Supreme Soul in the 2000 Guineas was expected to deliver a much better effort.

Instead, the three-year-old chestnut colt by Soul Warrior – Red Gold was a complete no show, ending in fifth position over 15 lengths behind the winner.
