KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica was off to a good start at 2019 IAAF World Relays, finishing among the qualifiers in the mixed shuttle hurdles, mile and sprint relay heats at the Yokohama International Stadium in Japan this morning.

The team of Amoi Brown, Andrew Riley, Megan Tapper and Ronald Levy won their heat in 55.09 seconds, making them the second fastest team into the mixed shuttle hurdles relay finals.

Later, both the men’s and women’s mile relay teams booked a spot in their respective finals set for tomorrow.

While the men — Demish Gaye, Akeem Bloomfield, Javon francis and nathon Allen — secured an automatic spot, having finished second in 3:02.67, the women — Christine Day, Shiann Salmon, Tiffany James and Chrisann Gordon — made it through as one of the fastest losers with their third place finish of 3:28.80.

Meanwhile, the women’s 4x100m of Sherone Simpson, Natasha Morris, Sashalee Forbes and Jonielle Smith posted 43.08s in their heat for a second place finish and an automatic spot in tomorrow’s final. 

However, the men’s team (Nesta Carter, Julian Forte, Rasheed Dwyer and Tyquendo Tracey) had to settle for a third place finish, having clocked 38.51s.

They made it through to the finals as one of the fastest losers.
