Doha2019: Thompson also pulled from 4x100m relay
DOHA, Qatar (AFP) — Olympic champion Elaine Thompson has been pulled from the 4x100m relay at the 2019 IAAF World Championships in Doha, Qatar.
Thompson, who earlier today withdrew from the 200m semi finals, finished fourth in the 100m final on Sunday night and was second in heat three of the 200m qualifiers in 22.61 seconds yesterday.
Coach Stephen Francis told OBSERVER ONLINE that she just could not compete today.
“Her feet were bothering her and it started sometime during the 100m semifinal and she tried to go yesterday and it got a little worse and today she warmed up and it couldn’t go so we have to turn attention to try and see if we can get it fixed,” Francis said.
Thompson has been complaining of a recurring Achilles problem.
